Saliva Analysis with SillHa Algonquin, IL
Get Unprecedented Insights into Your Oral Health
At Root Dental, Dr. Maggie Grothe and our team focus on holistic dentistry. Along with traditional dental procedures, we’re always interested in exploring how diet, lifestyle, genetics, and other factors can impact oral health.
That’s why we offer saliva analysis with the SillHa Oral Wellness System. This simple, fast, and non-invasive test can be done as part of any checkup or teeth cleaning at our office and offers unprecedented insights into your oral health and wellness.
Understanding The SillHa Oral Wellness System
The SillHa Oral Wellness System uses a computer program and an electronic testing device to test your saliva and assess your overall oral health. In just a few minutes, SillHa can test for seven key biomarkers that help Dr. Grothe understand your risk of gum disease, cavities, and other common oral health issues.
SillHa can assess things including current levels of oral bacteria, saliva flow, oral acidity, inflammation levels, and more. Along with traditional oral exams and X-rays, these allow Dr. Grothe to develop a more holistic understanding of your oral health, and deliver insights that can help protect your teeth and gums in the future.
The SillHa Process – How It Works
- Rinse and spit – First, your hygienist or dental assistant at Root Dental will give you a cup with a special mouth rinse in it. Rinse for 20 seconds, then spit into the cup. Your hygienist will take a sample from the cup and put it on a test strip.
- Analyzing your sample – Our team will then load your test strip into the SillHa machine. It only takes about five minutes to analyze your sample. During this time, your hygienist will continue with your oral exam and teeth cleaning!
- Get your results – Once your oral exam and teeth cleaning are over, Dr. Grothe and our dental team will review the results with you and discuss what they mean. Depending on what they find, they may recommend additional preventive care, adjustments to your at-home oral hygiene routine, lifestyle changes, and more.
